My Gold Award Project: Be Inspired. Be Inspirational.
Hi, my name is Alyssa Rivas I am a junior at Mayfield Senior School and I am pursuing my Gold Award Project. The Gold Award is the highest honor awarded to a Girl Scout. As quoted by the Girl Scouts of America "The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest and most prestigious award that Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors can earn. Each Gold Award Project addresses a community issue and improves lives. The Gold Award process builds girls’ personal leadership skills. A Gold Award Project inspires others to take action within their communities." It requires an intensive community service project, designed by the Girl Scout and involving her community. In light of my love for running, it seemed appropriate to pursue a project in which running was involved.
My hope is that through this project I will be able to raise enough money to sponsor a few teams (10 runners each) in their journey to a stable life. All of the proceeds will go to benefit the organization and support these runners. I chose the name Be Inspired. Be Inspirational as the title of my project for a few reasons. Through my project I hope to inspire others to be inspirational themselves through their work in the community. I also hope that all participants in this event will take inspiration from the runners helped by the organization as well as the team at Up and Running Again.
This project is meant to inspire others and serve the community. And through this event I hope that you, members of my community, will join me in inspiring others to do service and in turn be inspired by the human spirit.
